Mrs. Messy Scrapbooks (Plus a Free Template)

by Cammy on September 15, 2009

During my ninety day hiatus, I spent a bit of time scrapbooking. With a nine month old baby who constantly needs to go-go-go, I don’t have huge chunks of time to spend on hobbies. So I have really simplified my pages and gone back to the basics.

I used to spend days, and even weeks, on a single page to create something like this:

While it may not be too complicated, I would just fuss over every little element and its placement.

Most of my pages were single photo pages with fancy photo filters, numerous elements, and a list of credits a mile long.

Now, I just like to stick to two things. The photos and the journaling. To me, that is what it’s all about.

With an adorable little boy, you can imagine how many photos I take of him. When I get out the camera, I don’t just take one picture. No! I take at least twenty. And I usually hold down the shutter and take six in a row.

63 pics in 11 minutes

You just never know when you might capture the perfect smile. Or the sweetest expression. Right? Who’s with me on this one? No one. Um, okay. Moving along…

So I’ll take a bunch of those images and put them on one layout. I usually struggle with narrowing it down to less than five. Sometimes, I get all crazy, and use eight pictures.

Hat Hate

But no matter how many pictures I use, I always add journaling. Sometimes a little.

And sometimes a lot.

Cry, Baby

And sometimes I copy my own work. Because that just simplifies the process even more.
