Cowboy Quilt

Basting

This is what I am currently working on in my spare time. The precious minutes I can steal away to my sewing room. I finished pinning the quilt layers and should start quilting it. But I won’t for a while. Why? Because I am an amateur, that’s why.

I want to stipple this quilt, but I have never done any free-motion quilting before and need to practise. A lot.

For those of you who have admired the technique, let me tell you that it is not as easy as it looks. No. It is the exact opposite of easy. Well, I guess that would be an exaggeration because the opposite of easy is impossible. And stippling is not impossible. But I can’t guarantee that I will ever get the hang of it.

I can hardly wait to finish this, though. It’s for Jacob. The fabric is by Michael Miller and I absolutely adore it. The binding will be the same print in blue. It totally fits with my tacky western taste!

And oh, don’t you just love that white paisley? I don’t know who makes it, but I wish I bought more. I only have a few scraps left. I might have to make another trip to the quilt store just to buy every last bit.
