Weren’t the seventies fabulous? Or should I say groovy?
I am still scanning and looking through old photos and can’t quit looking at the little details in the background of each picture. Like orange-brown plaid and bell bottom jeans. The hair is so bad in a wig-like way.
Big chunky bow ties. Mushroom haircuts. Leisure suits. Side burns.
Far out!
The thing is, when I found this picture…
…there isn’t a lot that I could recall. I do know that I absolutely hated it when my mother pinned my hair like that. Can you say ginormous forehead? I swear, my mother did this on purpose.
Back to the photo. I can’t remember the specifics. Was this really Christmas? It must have been because there’s a gingerbread house, right? When did we get to eat the treat? Did Mom torture me by saving it for two weeks? That is something she would have done! Did I really help? I doubt it, but it’s possible.
In fact, I barely remember our kitchen even looking like this. It wasn’t long after this photo was taken that Mom painted the walls and cupboards white and blue. I would love to have that wallpaper in my kitchen today. And check out the plastic beads hanging from the window. Stylin’!
What I do know and remember is that Mom made each and every occasion a big deal. She went all out. Food. Baking. Decorations. Guests. It was always a good time at our house during birthdays and holidays.
It got me thinking about how I would like the same for Jacob.
So I made this:
Notice that I didn’t show a larger copy of the bottom picture. My forehead looks even bigger in it. If that’s even possible.
